Hmm I don't remember those. I've heard rumors in the past but didn't
know they had ever materialized. Perhaps not enough sh$t was thrown.
They seem to be throwing serious money at zune, trying to get it into
the public eye. They are buying the market. I believe they have enough
money to accomplish that. Whether it will stay bought is another thing.

I've no doubt that MS can sometimes fail. I was only suggesting that
in this area, here is a way to show how Linux is better. Myth-TV is
known for it's difficulty to install. What is needed is a knoppix like
upgrade that leaves them with a sense that they've gotten a super
upgrade called Linux.
Then they look on the Internet for Linux and see they can get it on
their desktop as well....
We should do this with the Sony PS3 as well. I got one :) and installed
Linux on it. But because my TV isn't high definition I couldn't make out
the text, so all I have is a skeleton system with busybox on it. I
didn't want to try to install a full system without being able to see
what I was doing.
However, where Linux could improve the PS3 is:
1. PS3 can show pictures, play music, download updates, surf the net,
play games. It cannot do more then one of these things at a time. (You
would think with 8 processors...) Linux can do all of these things at once.
2. The PS3 can dual boot so it's a non-destructive upgrade.
3. The PS3 can play PS3 games, emulate PS2 (and ps1 possibly). Linux can
emulate Commodore 64,PS1,PS2, all the MAME stuff, Super Nintendo as well
as play native games.
The more Linux gets out on handheld devices and game consoles and PC's
the more Linux will snowball.
