I plan on purchasing their "consumer" grade one that will be out this 
October/November.

I don't think there will be any issue whatsoever with the GSM carriers up 
here, as the phone is unlocked, and I have successfully used the Telit GM862 
embedded cell radios with Fido's PAYG service.
