It looks like the iPhone, with a touch screen interface, but as I understand
it, the hardware was in development way before the iPhone.

I believe it has GPS.

It runs a linux kernel and has its own firmware boot loader and
personal data managment applications (source code to everything included).

People are playing with it now.  (see the active mailing lists)

In watching the mailing list, people get very testy if you expect
more of it than a development phone.  Especially if you act like you
expect support like an end user.

The website says specifically: don't expect to make calls yet. :-)

Fundamental things are being worked on at the moment.  Like power management
and charging on USB without killing the battery.  (Killing means killing
here).


In short, it's everything a cell phone should be! :-)
