[kwlug disc.] moving from outlook to thunderbird on win XP pro

  hanging out here in winnipeg (no jokes, please), setting up my
mother with a new computer and i'm *sorely* tempted to get her off of
outlook and onto thunderbird.  i've never had to migrate someone to
that effect, but she's seen the screenshots and seems to like them so
she's game.

  is this a safe/wise thing to do?  who else has done it?  is there a
better alternative?  i've already installed open office for her, and
gimp for my nephew.  so the next logical step would be email.

  advice?  guidance?  thanks.
