I'm glad you posted to the list. You are not unique in your questions, 
quest for enlightenment, or need to figure these things out. Everyone 
can benefit.

The issues you're investigating are part and parcel of something that 
EVERYONE should be concerned about and have a handle on.

No computer is an island these days. If you can go out, and everyone 
does, at least to the internet, something can come in. Or something, 
possibly compromised, is going out.

This all deals with an aspect of that, particularly the much desired 
functionality of remote collaboration or access back in, which 
necessitates crossing this border.
