I don't really care about the proprietary software one way or the other. Like you, I much prefer to stick with Free software where possible, and try to only purchase hardware that is supported by such. However, for me, where Ubuntu shines, is with the really great default install (the one part of debian I could never really wrap my head around,), the fixed release cycle (so your not either installing something years out of date or trying to put together daily builds of community iso's that may or may not work any particular day.)
I don't see the value of the Click and Run service, however. On the one hand, it's another option for users, which is 'good' (tm). However Ubuntu already has awesome click and run ability to install all the Open source software you can shake a stick at built in. As for libdecss and the proprietary codecs, I would rather the open source alternatives be supported, rather than forced to stay even longer in the shadow while there is a "legal and licensed" option.
