To me it seems that unification on the GNU/Linux front is plus
regardless of how you look at it. As previously mentioned, the two
seem to be on a similar track, and this looks like a plus for the
consumers who are looking for this type of distribution, whether they
choose Ubuntu or Freespire/Linspire.
I would only have a problem with this if the Freespire/Linspire
proprietary things work their way into my Ubuntu install without
giving me a choice about it. Assuming I can even see any bits of
Freespire/Linspire inside of Ubuntu at all, I don't mind. As long as I
have the ability to remove or adjust it at my leisure. I'd have to
have a look at Freespire to see how I like their setup, CNR, etc
before I could pass any real judgments though.
