It's a Dell 2405FPW [1] 24".

Was it worth it? Well.. I have a screen that's bigger than my
keyboard. It makes quite an impression. It would *suck* without the
arm[2], which I overpaid for. It's just so big that I had to get it
off my desk.

Is it worth it? No, not really. A 21" non-widescreen would do me
just fine for desk space, seeing as i have hotkeys bound to my virtual
desktops. I have all the space in the world.

BUT.. this was meant to act as a TV as well, so that justifies it.
It's both widescreen and 1900x1200, which makes a big difference for
general quality. I love widescreen DVDs. =)

I understand that 1900x1200 is "high definition" for DVDs, but I
didn't really fiddle around aside from using the right video cables.

Getting bigger than this, I've heard of needing dual-head video cards
and such.. and I didn't want to go there, or spend that much.

Dell is having sales for this montior for under $800 now. I paid..
*cough* more than that. =/ (in fact the price went down the day
after I got it, and it kept dropping)

I'd recommend Dell, but I'd also recommend surfing online to learn a
bit more. I had to do a LOT of surfing [3] to figure out what's what
and decide on something. The technologies alone were hard to wrap my
head around. It turns out that this screen is so bright that it could
be on the other side of the Sun and I could still read comfortably
from Earth. I had to tweak the colour settings to make it usable in a
normal room. =)

Thinking back, I think I might have been equally happy with a smaller
widescreen, or a 21" non-widescreen.. but this screen does well since
I can sit across the room to watch a movie. I also would have
strongly considered a good projector. But with $500 bulbs, I'm not so
sure.
