I recommend giving xvidcap a try. http://xvidcap.sourceforge.net/

Notice the link at the top of their webiste titled "xvidcap live". It 
links to two instructional videos created with xvidcap and saved with 
file sizes about 9 MB each. The videos walk through xvidcaps features 
including the ability to record on the fly audio. VLC reported "no 
suitable demux module" errors in those files upon playback but they 
appeared to play fine anyhow.

A google search turned up a number of utilities to convert various 
formats to Flash for streaming the video online (or save yourself the 
trouble and bandwidth and use the free google video or youtube services 
and they'll do the flash streaming part for you).
