This is called "spam blogging" and is a form of spamdexing
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_in_blogs). It's a common problem on
forums, wikis and blogs. I don't know about drupal's features. The
best way to defeat it is to have a challenge password for posting such
as a word in written in a gif that a human must type to authorize a
post.
spam blogging can be reduced (but not eliminated) by adding common spam
words to a forum's cuss-word filter. e.g.
4U
acne
adipex
adipren
advicer
amazing
ambian
ambieen
ambiian
advertisement
ambien
allergies
etc.
I can send my filter list for the PegaSoft forum if anyone wants it.
