I know I cleared all such that I could find somewhere between 2 and 4
weeks before this post.
Richard did express concern about this issue when he enabled comments
in the first place, not too many months ago. I have absolutely no
doubt he is aware of the problem, has looked at how it might be
solved, and if I remember correctly, concluded that it can't be,
eliminated completely (spammers figure out how to circumvent things)
and had not yet found a satisfactory answer as to how to minimize the
problem to as great extent as possible / in the current CMS/Drupal.
I was surprised with his post (above), but have no doubt he was
reluctantly driven to the move.
He hopes for bigger and better things in the future with a revised web
site [Drupal 2?], but hasn't gotten that far yet. [Personally, I'm
very grateful for whatever we have to date, and kudos to anyone who
takes their personal time to try to help the community.]
Disclaimer: I do not speak for or on behalf of Richard, these are my
personal opinions and perceptions only.
