Thus spake Richard Weait (richard at weait.com) [28/02/07 00:14]:
: >Though I'm no stranger to computers, I've not dealt with ALSA since before
: >it was folded into the kernel. Any Linux audio folks out there willing to
: >give me a hand?
:
: What flavor of Linux?

Gentoo, kernel version 2.6.19.

: from a console, try alsaconfig

I can't find alsaconfig anywhere, but I'll go out on a limb and say it's
like alsaconf. I went through the configuration it provides, and I'm still
not getting any audio, even though it *looks* like I should be hearing
*something*.

: use arrow keys to adjust the sliders, if any have MM above or below
: tey are muted.

Ah, okay, that clears up the 'are they muted?' question. But I've tried
maxing the volume and toggling the muted switch, to no avail. I'm assuming
I can do this while I've got the audio device open...
