There have been game-oriented distributions in the past but, as far as I
know, none of them have been particularly successful. I seem to recall
there was a Linux gaming console system a couple of years ago. I think
Falcon Northwest's Fragbox console (http://www.falcon-nw.com/) runs on
Linux, though I don't see it mentioned after a quick tour of their site.
Linux has always had better success with business applications than
games, particularly since home computers usually run Windows and porting
games to another operating system is a tricky business.
World of Warcraft can be run on Linux with WINE, the free Windows
emulator (http://www.winehq.com). It also claims to run "Halo: Combat
Evolved". Same game?
I just rebuild GXMAME/MAME every time I install a new distribution and
I'm off blowing stuff up...but retro games are no match for Halo, of
course.
