I found vnc2swf to be pretty good.  You need a second computer (or a 
VMware instance, that works well), but other than that it's easy to get 
going.  I believe the Python version also has an option to include a 
rudimentary player (track bar, pause button).

This of course presupposes you want to post your screencast on a website 
somewhere.
