I believe it is your selective filtering.
In mainstream, the news is Microsoft or the news is
Adobe, the details are irrelevant and probably the
reporter does not even know what they mean.
I listen to talk radio (CBC and sometimes 570 news), I
watch main stream TV. I read main stream magazines
(e.g. Macleans), etc. I haven't seen any increase in
FLOSS related reports. Maybe every now and then a
passing reference, but not the center of the
particular news item.
On the internet I do read frequent references but I
attribute that to my browsing patterns.
