Is it appropriate to reply to this email on the list?

Anyway, I've been learning LaTeX slowly this term, writing up
occasional notes/assignments with it.
But lately I've discovered the more old-school roff/troff/groff. Has
anyone every used these? Can I do similar things with them as I can in
LaTeX?
