Also,  Latex is the defacto standard for many academic journals in the
sciences.  Check out the websites of Elsevier and and Fisher etc and
you may find some macros to be used when submitting your paper to
them --- as I am sure that you will be.

Some books will state on the reverso of the title page that they were
produced using Latex.
