Demarc -> modem -> router
v- filter -> all phones in house.
(self-wired from raw incoming bell wires. Have tested with
filter/phones disconnected).

Given your comments ... <sigh> ... maybe I'll try dealing with Bell
one more (*&^(*&^*&^%*() aggravating time. Last time they were
supposed to come out but never did. I didn't pursue due to aggravation
levels.

When you say block SMTP, googling says they're requiring authenticated
SMTP for outgoing e-mail. Do you mean they block incoming SMTP?
[I don't intend to run my own e-mail server here, see other threads,
but you never know / testing. I have no intention of using Roger's
e-mail.]
The only time I really notice the speed issue is large downloads, like
ISOs. The big irk is Bell upgraded the lines to 3Mbps 2 years ago,
taking my account along for the ride, but I've never been able to get

If I stay copper, I'm staying Golden. They've just been too good.
[Although their warning if you go over 10 GB monthly transfer they
just cut you off is irritating. Particularly since they say no warning
and provide no means of finding out how much you've used that month so
far.]
Thanks for your note - it led me to google and find
http://www.canadianisp.com/. [Didn't know Golden does cable, and don't
think they do in K-W.]
