While I'm absolutely opposed to violating the wishes of the magazine, I'm curious about the 
GPL licences under which the distros are created -- the nature of GPL requires that any 
derivative works grant the same rights and freedoms to reproduce the work.  Seems to me it's 
a violation of the GPL to disallow copying.

Interestingly, while the copyright disclaimer I quoted earlier is in the masthead of the 
magazine, there's no such language on the DVD.  But I'll write to the magazine to see what 
the official word is...
