Seems like a great idea. 

Creating a course is a lot of work, some helping
software like Moodle (http://moodle.org/ ) and Atutor
(http://www.atutor.ca/) comes to mind. I haven't
checked moodle but atutor is a standard LAMP app that
is easy to set up.

For one-on-one tutoring it seems that "screen" can be
used to see what the other person is doing in the
command line (I haven't tried it though).
