Ok, I've answered part of my questions with this webpage information:

  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingKDE

  (i) kubuntu-desktop -- This is the recommended metapackage to install; the
full Kubuntu installation, with all the Kubuntu recommended packages. This
includes OpenOffice, Kontact, Konversation, amaroK, K3B, and others.

And here is more answers:

  http://cdimage.ubuntulinux.org/dvd/current/

The combined install/live DVD allows you either to install Ubuntu
permanently on a computer, or (by entering 'live' at the boot prompt)
to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all.

...

Good, this reduces my questions considerably.
So does anyone out there have a recent FeistyFawn DVD-iso?
Or should I just stick with 6.10 EdgyEft?
