[kwlug disc.] if you want something to do monday evening, KWLUG-wise

(damn, i wish i'd thought of this earlier.)
i just noticed that monday evening is an informal who's who, and it
leads me to suggest the following (although it's hideously short
notice and was something i was actually thinking of for a free
workshop down the road).
now that i have this buttload of laptops, it occurs to me that it
would be useful to know how to install various distros on them, and
the corresponding glitches that might occur for each distro. so i was
wondering if there was any interest (or if this was even feasible
given the short notice) in my bringing a few of these things, and LUG
members can bring their favourite distro, and take a crack at doing an
install from scratch and see how well it works.
i'd supply you with a laptop and, in return, what i'd expect to get
back is a short writeup of what it took to get your choice of distro
up and running (minus the inevitable profanity).
you could try just doing only the most basic install, or you could
get ambitious and see how much of the following you could get
functioning:
- full 1280x800 TrueColo[u]r resolution
- basic networking
- wireless networking
- bluetooth
- onboard CF and SD slots
as i said, it's ridiculously short notice but, if anyone wants to
take a crack at it, i'm game. i can arrange to bring the systems to
the WC shortly after 6 to give you as much time as possible. just
post here what distro you're interesting in trying so i don't have
everyone showing up ready to test-install ubuntu.
is this doable?
