It's really rare that Linux wouldn't be able to auto-detect the amount
of memory you have. But keep in mind, the memory that Linux reports
will be your Total Ram minus however much you share with your Video..
Just to be sure, check your bios and make certain you are not configured
for 1 GB of video ram or something crazy like that.. (128 MB should be
enough for non-gaming applications)

So did I just lose the second core.
You need an SMP kernel for your dual cores... check your distro
instructions for installing one (unless you want to roll your own).
That does't affect the memory.
