The software may already exist in the form of Bookcrossing search or browse function:

 http://www.bookcrossing.com/browse

I'm not sure if the Web software is FLOSS; I'll ask them.

Does the Working Centre participate in BookCrossing? ie. can we use WC as a swap site for 
crossing books?
