is why I thought implementing notifications is a positive (albeit limited)

 	I don't know whether we have made a conclusion either way, or 
whether it is likely that we are going to. So I am hoping that we can try 
out this solution for a while to see whether it does more good than harm.

 	I think that is a legitimate position as well. In fact one of my 
motivations for setting up notifications was because some of your 
excellent blog posts (e.g. http://www.kwlug.org/node/529) appear lonely 
and ignored.
