I have a laptop that is perfectly functional and yet it won't go to sleep. It only takes seconds to boot so I haven't worried so much about this but sometimes late at night when I can't sleep I wonder..
Is there a resource for suspend/hibernate online. Google turns up hundreds of people on the Ubuntu forms with problems such as mine however no answers and I am not sure where I should begin.
( I am running debian, anyways. )
I have got some inklings that this will require a kernel patching but I can not find what to patch the kernel with or if this is actually even nesscary.
Suspend just shuts everything down. If I edit the config it will leave a grub entry that won't boot anything.
Hibernate gives me some text that doesn't appear in any log and I haven't *gasp* copied it down manually, then freezes there.
Something to do with unmounting partitions.
I am running debian, I forget the silly name, and apparently they have gone and released a new version.. (Haven't had internet in a bit).
Anyways sorry for digressing.
Running debian.. the one before etch
On a dell inspiron 1501, the amd turion 64 but I installed x86
2.6.18 kernel with smp.
Thanks for your pointers
Daniel
