[kwlug disc.] LiveCD customization

I am borrowing a Vista laptop this weekend in order to get some work 
done on an article I'm writing while I'm in transit between some family 
commitments.  I don't expect to have network access most of the time, 
but if I do it would be really handy to have a TN5250 terminal emulator 
available.  I would be surprised if any of the LiveCDs such emulators by 
default.

So I have a couple of questions for those who have rolled-their-own LiveCD.

1.  Can this realistically be accomplished by a LiveCD noob in an hour 
or two?

2.  Has anyone used Intellibuild (ibuild.livecd.net)?  Any usage notes 
would be appreciated.

And now for something completely different ...
3.  Can anyone think of a reason it would be a bad idea to move a SVN 
working directory to a USB stick so I can work on the sample code?  I'm 
pretty new to Subversion, so while I think this should work I would like 
to avoid nasty surprises.
