What? You running out of a good discussion? I thought
that's what friends are for!

First, your last parragraph goes totally off topic. My
understanding of your question was "what do you
respond to someone that says that?" not "How do you
convince them to use Linux?".

So, being a discussion aficionado I always try to go
for the soft spot:

Ask her/him:

"How much did you pay for my friendship and how much
do you appreciate it?"

Then you can have some fun while they try to get out
of that one so be prepared when he responds it's not
the same thing.

If you can lead the discussion so your friend finally
says that he's paying (the friendship) in kind you
know that YOU GOT HIM/HER, don't you?

:)
