over the last couple days, i've been reading about a company called
"geosign" in guelph that, back in march, received $160 million in
venture capital. to make a long story short, geosign appears to have
a really strange business model which involves owning over 100,000
domains and simply driving traffic to them as much as possible and
collecting on the hits via google and yahoo ads.
just for the fun of it, i took a quick look at just a small part of
the geosign portfolio here:
http://www.geosign.com/portfolio.aspx
and selected http://truelocal.com, and asked about finding sites
related to "linux" in "waterloo, on". i have no idea if you're going
to get the same set of results i did, but i won't spoil the fun. try
it yourself.
