[kwlug disc.] Re: CompTIA Linux + or LPI? Books?

I am wondering two things:

1. which is better to get in terms of actually being able to make a living:
CompTIA Linux + Cert. or LPI Cert? I've heard the LPI is much better and
more thorough but also know that CompTIA is a recognizable brand. And is it
worth it for this area (KW, Woodstock).

2. What books do we have (if any) and what would be recommended reading?
