[kwlug disc.] entry-level, linux-friendly scanner available locally?

I just purchased a medium format 6x6 camera and I am wondering about scanning images.  Basically same question, though I don't care much about locally(Not much is available locally here) , and I wonder if there that much of a quality difference between a 300 scanner and a $99 scanner.  And really, I'm not a professional or anything.
