[kwlug disc.] Linpus and non production distros

Interesting, I just searched Linpus and it has been on Distro watch for quite some time (2001) but there were no news from 2002 until 2007 when the current version was released.
Something that caught my eye is that it is Fedora based. 
As far as I understand Fedora is a playground not a production level distro. (My desktop at home is Fedora). Why can't people go with stable and production level distros when they intend to go into the "non technical user space" ?_________________
