MRTG is probably a good place to start. Or Cacti if you want to be more
"modern". These tools will let you see graphs of your bandwidth usage
over various time frames which should give you some idea of what is
happening with your APs.
Nagios should be helpful for alerting you if some of the values monitor
goes outside of an acceptable threshold. I am hoping that it can
also store and graph history. This is something that I am going to be
looking into soon.
