[kwlug disc.] www.google.ca does not resolve

I have experienced terrible DNS resolver performance with *both*
Rogers and Sympatico users.

We go through periods where customers will call us up and say "Halp!
My site is DOWN!", and we'll take a look around... everything is
green, working nice. When I then say "OK, go into your network
settings and make your DNS servers 208.67.220.220 & 208.67.222.222
(OpenDNS)", the problem clears right up, and stays cleared up.

The cherry on top for us, of course, is that because we are just a
little hosting operation, people assume that it really is *us* that is
down when this happens, as opposed to a problem with their ISP :)

Anyway, just in case anyone needed a vote for doing one of the
following:
	1) using OpenDNS
	2) running DJB's dns caching server locally
	3) trying to be that person who makes the magic phone call that makes
Rogers/Sympatico support reps *care* and start the ball rolling to
build internal corporate momentum that will culminate in the problem
finally being fixed for *everyone*

then, well, that's another sorid tale to inspire you.

Options (1) and (2) are probably the most practical, though.

	All the Best,

	-Cedric
